Coinbase is the leading cryptocurrency exchange in the United States and in Europe. For many new crypto investors, Coinbase is the starting point. You will find a wide range of products such as:
– Investing in cryptocurrencies
– Advanced trading platform
– Custody accounts for institutions
– Wallet for private investments
– Own stable currency in US dollars or in Euros
Founded in 2012, Coinbase initially only allowed Bitcoin trading. Soon, trading in more cryptocurrencies became possible. These days, a new coin is introduced through a rewarded lesson series. You will be given some of the newly announced coins as a gift to try them out. This is reserved for an elite who has been on Coinbase for a while and has made one to several deposits.

Cons
– Compared to its competitors, Coinbase charges high fees if you do not use Coinbase Pro. Many newbies using the standard Coinbase platform are subject to these fees. However, you can switch to Coinbase Pro for free and pay a lower fee. Coinbase Pro also has more features that can be overwhelming for new crypto traders.
– Users have no control over their own wallet keys. When a user buys cryptocurrency on an exchange, it is stored in a wallet over which Coinbase has control. This means that the user has no autonomous control over their assets, which is essentially against the ethos of decentralized currency or finance. This can be avoided if the investor withdraws their currency in their own personal wallet.
– Not enough variety of altcoins. Coinbase has a good variety of altcoin options for newer investors to dabble in, but those interested in serious altcoin trading won’t find a great selection here.
